This mixture produces a wider blade grass that enables it to be moderately shade and drought tolerant. Meadowspring Tall Fescue will perform well throughout Virginia and works well on lawns. EMPIRE® Zoysia is the first variety zoysia grass adaptable to climate in the deep south. It thrives well in hot and humid climate. This blade grass is finer and broader than other warm grasses and performs well in sandy and clay soils. It is very dense grass which helps prevent weed growth. EMPIRE needs less water and maintenance than most other turfgrasses: in some instances, once naturalized to its environment, EMPIRE requires minimal care.
Meyer Zoysia creates a dense turf with a medium texture. With the dense growth this grass is resistant to weed germination. Lobo® Zoysia is a new, medium-fine bladed zoysiagrass released by NC State University.
